so suddenly there is this
new surprising kind of sadness
a heartache of a snake
shedding its skin, shedding its skin
why is it a fearful thing
to leave where I have been
when it will be better where I'm going?
cuz a loss is a loss
even when it's a loss of pain and suffering
it's like a nostalgia that is accidental
from the safety of pain to unknown terrain
