Another Christmas Tune
Ronnie Day
Santa's on the sidewalk
And he's begging for a change
With a fire truck red bucket
And her belly's got a ring
He's singing Merry ? Christmas
And a happy new year
What the hell was I thinking?
When I said I'd volunteer?
No one cares about the sick
No one cares about the poor
No one cares to think a thought
Outside themselves anymore
And it's Christmas time
But all I want to do is cry
We fain in understanding
Claim we know that we've been blessed
And we sacrifice a tree
And build an alter for Jesus
But do you think I'm a hippie,
Wearing sandals and a dress?
Never swipe a credit card
Or buy some plastic presents
No one cares about what's right
No one cares about what's wrong
No one cares to think a thought
Outside the role they've played so long
And it's Christmas time
But all I want to do is cry
But when people come together
And I don't care what time of year
There are good vibrations in the air
This much I think is clear
So though I may be disappointed
With the symbols that we wear
I'll try and keep it to myself
Through the month of December
It is Christmas time
So let's make believe, we're alright
