Closing Down the Shop

Jimmy Campbell
I'm closing down the shop
and leaving on the train
always wanted to
always knew I would
I hope they will accept me there
I'm sure they will they must
possibly they may upset mer
I suppose they will
but when I get there I'll find a room
throw out the furniture and I will paint the walls
and I'll make my window big so that the sun can shine in
keep my paintings warm
always get this way and don't know why
I'm sure I don't know
possibly I maybe bothered I suppose I am
I'll take my milk with me to bed and maybe a round of toast
and then I'll read awhile
and then I'll close my eyes and in the darkness of my mind I'll begin to smile
I'm closing down the shop
and leaving on the train
always wanted to
always knew I would
when I get there I'll find a room
throw out the furniture and I will paint the walls
and I'll make my window big so that the sun can shine in
keep my paintings warm
