I parked my car on Parsons Lane
Walked a mile to my father's front gate
He sat on the porch out of the rain
It's always too early but never too late
Talked until the stars fell asleep
Little time when the years run fast
Lots of creases in my shirt to keep
Lots of streets full of devils and dust
Called it quits around mid mornin'
Went inside to get somethin' to eat
Pa's asleep on the porch and snorin'
Dreamin' about the sons he wanted to meet
Slump back in my chair and watch the cars roll by
Endless roads and neigbourhoods
Engines in need of oil and fixin'
Devils and dust under the hood
