Gift Horse Mouth
Is this where I'll be sitting,
For the next thirty-five years?
With the windows barred and blinded,
As my vision disappears.
And right now the van is silver,
But it used to be deep red,
And workers hear the railroad line,
It's closed I've heard it said.
Rows of faceless masks on a shelf,
Empty bottles meant to tempt a buyer,
Still as low as I was so long ago,
With little chance of getting higher.
Telephone, table rises, couches disappear,
Humming lights on the wall,
That will, without knowing, startle whatever comes near,
I'll watch them fall.
They moved me right across,
They applauded me, they cheered for me,
Can't decide who's my boss,
They discorded me, they jeered at me.
This is where I've been sitting,
For the last seven years.
With two manequins standing guard,
And I've not shed many tears.
And Andrew used to tease them,
And he'd get caught in the act,
Trying his best to please them,
And that's why Andrew was sacked.
They moved me right across,
They applauded me, they cheered for me,
Can't decide who's my boss,
They discorded me, they jeered at me.
So three have been a constant,
I say three, but maybe four.
And two are new, well four are too,
And they need to work on the door.
And there's about three I've been close to,
And those shelves don't look quite right,
But I can make a display just for you,
I can make a tempting sight.
They moved me right across,
They applauded me, they cheered for me,
Can't decide who's my boss,
They discorded me, they jeered at me.
And I should be happy, should be happy,
Well I guess I am.
Should be happy, should be happy.
Well, I am!
They moved me right across,
They applauded me, they cheered for me,
Can't decide who's my boss,
They discorded me, they jeered at me.
They moved me right across,
They applauded me, they cheered for me,
Can't decide who's my boss,
They discorded me, they jeered at me.
They discorded me, they jeered at me.
They discorded me, they jeered at me.
They discorded me, they jeered at me.
They discorded me, they jeered at me.
They discorded me, they jeered at me.
They discorded me, they jeered at me.
They discorded me, they jeered at me.
