Through my mind's narrow hallway
an the obtuse climbing steps
a vision like that of Joanna
through the side door had crept
It reminded me that early morning
as the sun was breaking through
of a love that came with no warning
Down the dimly lit sidewalks
traveling toward a brighter light
on the outside people to us talked
each eye kept us in sight
and the blinding light from the sun above
now shimmered around our dreams
and the dust collects on the books of love
Through my mind's narrow hallway
an the obtuse climbing steps
a vision like that of Joanna
through the side door had crept
It reminded me that early morning
as the sun was breaking through
of a love that came with no warning
the lamppost flickered on
I could feel my eyes begin to fade
and my eyes can truly see
that a nightmare surely would replace this dream
Through my mind's narrow hallway
an the obtuse climbing steps
a vision like that of Joanna
through the side door had crept
It reminded me that early morning
as the sun was breaking through
of a love that came with no warning
