First Light
Ancestors
Always waiting for nothing
It's time to learn something
Sometimes the fear's all there is
Working backwards, chasing smoke
We all let this happen
Where were you then?
This sea of sights will fall to rest
Deaf to all vain requests
We fail to grasp what once they held
False truth beneath the one true self
A city stands in dreams and time
In which resides a thousand lies
You can see the lights from waking life
And hear the cries in sacred night
The only law is memory
Freedom's given, but none to see
Trapped we are, too wise to know
What every sense would live to show
Yet the dawn still waits for none
His breath to break the frost that's come
Set to flight on ebon wings
To see the end of everything
