Hamsun
Pushmi-Pullyu
We all clenched to our cell phones,
Like they were the way home.
Like they could somehow have known.
But it's got to take some
Initiative to end this.
She knew that she could end this.
But she didn't...
But she didn't burn her Hamsun.
Pan is still up in his tree.
As for Hunger, it's on her night stand.
Waiting for her to come to bed,
While we were building piles
Of burning words that reached the sky.
They were pages of the books
Of men wish would die.
They were messages
To the stars above
That we shine just as bright,
And remind them that we were here.
And we all clenched to our mothers,
Because they were the way home.
And this they had always known.
And it took lots of
Initiative to end this.
She knew that she could end this.
And she did.
