How Much Mystery
J. Tillman
despite the rain
you went out of your way
"no one should be alone on a day like this"
you said to me while my friend slept in
and the last day of my lie
sure felt like the last day of my life
how much mystery does one man need,
and how much would I trade for one sure thing?
I know bigger prices have been paid
but better men have passed this way
it's not a lot to add
sometimes it feels like a lot to ask
