Indian Summer
It's late November and we're walking around the town
with our pants down
to feel the warm breeze on our knees
And on Thanksgiving day we ate our massive meal
under a steel blue sky
It feels so good
I hope it stays this way all winter

This year at Christmastime we opened all our presents
under a palm tree
and at Spring Break
we bought our own Florida Key
Beachfront property is going for a song

Our June wedding was disrupted by all the tumbleweeds
blowing through the aisle
and knocking the preacher off his feet
On Independence Day we cranked up the AC
and watched the fireworks display
on our giant screen TV
I think I'm finally looking forward to the end
of Indian Summer
...in August the cornstalks were blazing in the fields...
It's not so much the heat as the choking clouds of smoke
