Jacket
Nathan K
That old jacket in my closet's been in there the better part of this whole year
And I can't wait to zip it up when winter finally decides to come back here
With both hands buried in my pockets
I'll think back on warmer days spent in the sun
When the world was so much younger
And our lives felt like they'd only just begun
That old shop there on the corner
It's a miracle that it's still standing there
'Cause half of all I can recall of this place
Either got torn down or disappeared
It's hard to think that when I'm 80
I'll look back upon my 40s as my youth
I wonder if I will be able to remember anything of me and you
Time moves faster than a bullet
Or at least faster than I can rollerskate
But some days seem to last forever
And it's in those moments we should celebrate
Waking up to that first snowfall underneath your great grandmother's ancient quilt
Yeah, take some time to write your thoughts down
In a journal so that they could be preserved
