Make Me a Quilt
Cathy Miller
Make me a quilt to keep me warm,
On nights I'm most alone
When the wind howls and the moon shines cold
And I travel far from home.
Make me a quilt so I can see myself
In colors rich and bold,
So the brights will shine on the darkest night
And my stories will be told.
Make me a quilt for friends I love
So I will not forget
The days that fly when we're arm in arm
And the joys we've not had yet.
Make me a quilt so I can see the sun
And remember you...
The tears, the joy, the secrets one
And everything you do.
Make me a quilt for when you're gone
With the fabric of your days,
Every song sung from the mountain tops,
Every rainbow in your gaze.
Make me a quilt from every smile you smiled
And every life you've saved.
For when you're gone all I will have
Is the quilt that you have made.
