My Heart Belongs to the Sea
Tom Brosseau
I raise up my arms
And I make a cast
And I lean
Back up against the mast
The water meets the sky
It makes a perfect line
The wind lives and dies
And brings the taste of brine
My heart belongs to the sea
I can't say for certain
What the futures gonna bring
I look to the horizon
I don't see a thing
I've got a picture
I've got a frame
Future and horizon
Both look the same
My heart belongs to the sea
She wore a button down shirt
With a holster and a gun
And rolled both her sleeves
And put her hair back in a bun
She spread out her fingers
And she painted all her nails
And lifted up her hands
And blew across the sails
My heart belongs to the sea
The hardest thing to do
Is keep a smile
Though this may be true
I still go the extra mile
Rope around my body
In the shape of a reef
And a shiny plate
Pressed between my teeth
My heart belongs to the sea
My heart belongs to the sea
My heart belongs to the sea
