Nemesis
As I lay me down and I try to sleep
I don't get very far, I don't drift too deep
And the moments pass like an hourglass on fire
I try to clear my head, try to go to bed
But the stars above are all blinking red
Night slips out on a silent shout of desire
The things I do are not very good for me
Now I find I'm my own worst enemy
Living life to the fullest extreme
When it all falls apart at the inner seam
It's been a good run, we were having fun til the end
And now I'm running hard just to die so young
It seems that life didn't last that long
You take the good with the bad
You take the bad when it comes here again
Deep inside my mind there's a clue that I should know
All my life I've been on the ledge
It won't take much to push me over the edge
Now that ecstasy and agony are the same
Well it took my faith and it took my will
It took all I had to get up this hill
I won't bow down, I refuse to play the game
