No Wings
Joe Yoga
I have always felt a kinship to the ground and its flaws
Once a man who had nothin now a man of shovels and claws
I never gave the air a chance that was just a lie
But I have my own building now with its own sky
No wings not here
Not me don't need em
People need change and ritalin
And eyes on the door
Pacing paths and grapes of wrath
Newspapers and to watch the floor
I rip up the asphalt I can not erode
But I never lose a staring contest with well rested
Phone rings car horn screams
Not me I'm undefeated
No wings not here not me don't need em
Birds in trees are omens watching now the rise in my blood
They sing or scream or dive attack depending on
The end result
They don't have to sing especially not for me
I have my own head and it has its own symphony
Long gestating
Now completed
No wings etc
