Pale and Paralyzed
Brown Bird
Even the walls are shaking her down
and breaking her mind with unsettling sounds
Courage collapses and uncertainty reigns
She tries to summon her strength to thunder through it again
Sinks her teeth into a terrible rage and plunges her fist into the darkness
She's losing her ground and the war being waged
The war being waged by madness
She's fallen prey to the shadows
caught in the haze with sadness stakes
Maybe the ground will open
Surely the earth will swallow her whole
One crack and blow to the temple
Doubt take toll, she's lost control
Fire persists on the corridor walls
She jumps at the sound of each footfall
Long and dark is the journey ahead
at home her body turns and tosses in bed
Often she thinks she is somebody mean
but is just her own blood rushing in her ears
The force inside that steers her head
toward the beast in the darkness
The truth she seeks in the shadows
half way between being alive and dead
The devil is out for her tonight
under the moonlit' sky above
She's frozen in fear from lord and fright
And in her bloodshot eyes
she sees the moon up high
Pale and paralyzed
so bright and as white as the bones of a dove.
Maybe the ground will open
Surely the earth will swallow her whole
One crack and blow to the temple
Doubt take toll, she's lost control
