Paper Boats
Eamon McGrath
Never thought I'd say I'd want to run that old river
I was always trying to get away
Never thought you'd say that that's where you would bring her
Because that was where we went to escape
And on that crown we could only see each other
It was such a perfect hiding place
In the window of that car the light was just a cover
The sky would turn to night and fade away
Just to get off land we set up shop in the sand
I made a paper boat now down the river I float
Once we hit the water we both tried to swim together
We thought we'd both lose the tide
The rain came down blame it on the change of weather
We fucked up at least we tried
I curled up fit in to a piece of paper
Fold it over close my eyes and hide
Now you run off and I'll catch up with you later
That way we won't have to say goodbye
