Reawakening
Andrew Preston
Your love has tainted me
So bittersweet
I've fallen like Sleeping Beauty at your feet
I'm defenseless, so naïve
I'm resting blissfully in your carelessness
Unaware of the misery your voice seemed to ease
But I'm reawakening
I'm opening my eyes to a deceptive dream
I'm realizing it was a nightmare
I'm reawakening to redeem myself from my shame
I prayed for salvation
I found it in you
My heartache went numb
I thought our love was true
I wanted so little
I dreamt I had it all
I wanted in your arms, but you let me fall
I gave my heart to you to watch as I slept
I awoke to find you held it in your hand in broken pieces
I sacrificed my innocence while I was unknowingly sleeping
And as I slumbered, you numbed all of the pain
I felt my past heartbreaks slowly wane
But you ripped me from my fantasy
And left me broken in shame
I never felt the sedatives you slipped inside my veins
You were what I had always seemed to fail to attain
I look at you with such disdain, you left me in my sorrow's rain
You let me fall unconscious while you used me for your games
