Rock Opera (In the Key of Existential Misery)
Luke Haines
I am writing a rock opera in the key of existential misery
These Japanese eyes tell stories of ancient wisdom
And they're looking at you
I'm an esoteric practitioner of many an occult discipline
The unveiling of the pseudo sumo superstar
Takes place tonight in Crewe
So come on baby, I'll take you on a psychic journey
Meditation heals the mind, my very existence blurs the line
Between fantasy and hope
I've had more [?] than you've had hot dinners, sunshine
First we take Berlin, then we take Stoke
I don't speak, my body is a precision instrument of extreme torture
You'll pound the floor in dumb submission
To the music that I'll make
And although I'm writing a rock opera in the key of existential misery
I'm no Leonard Cohen, I'm certainly not Nick Drake
No Leonard Cohen, no Nick Drake
Now this monkey wants to walk but he doesn't talk
And when he hits the boards [?] takes the floor
[?] with his bit of rough, invokes the ritual in a cacophony of sound
And this is my rock opera in the key of existential misery
Seconds out, final public warning, the [?] takes a bow
I am writing a rock opera in the key of existential misery
You see, I'm writing a rock opera in the key of existential misery
This is my rock opera in the key of existential misery
Rock opera
