Rock Run
Denison Witmer
we are leaving for rock run.
weekend's just begun,
and we are gathered in the car.
antique stores and river homes
stretch along the water,
and they point to where we go.
it's my first time up to the north,
and though the day is short,
we make our plan into the night.
swimming holes and radios
that only get the station
that the mountain range lets in.
and light the way...
there are angels that are gathered in the sun.
light the way...
we are beautiful but unsure who we are.
from the trees down to the water's edge,
we will come.
april, with your eyes so bright,
promise me that you will come and stay with me tonight.
you hold promise in your hands,
and hope that i can never,
now i finally understand.
and light the way...
there are angels that are gathered in the sun.
light the way...
we are beautiful but unsure who we are.
from the trees down to the water's edge,
from the trees down to the water's edge.
light the way...
we are beautiful and unsure who we are.
from the trees down to the water's edge,
we will come.
