Shoebox
The Invisibles
my whole world inside a shoebox
the sacred place i shield my dreams
old letters and a couple photographs
fractures of an idealized used-to-be
i'll hide this disappointment somewhere i won't dare to go
where poison comes to wash away
all those feelings we'll never get to know
explore the meanings of goodbyes
and that all real things come to an end
is it worth trying to bring back to life
the story we've killed slowly?
i try so hard to understand your doubts
the ones that crash down my heart
it's alright, i know
those same doubts might also be tearing you apart
i will believe that you'll never forget what i meant to you
that you won't ever see me as no one, someone
something to forget
the town with all our landmarks
is stormed by a parade of sympathy
take the road back to black and white
and find a place where the stars have disappeared
to break the ilussion i once thought
we could call future plans
no last dance, just silence
and promises of a life never lived
did we get lost, get numb, get tired
of all that once seemed magic?
is it worth trying to bring back you and i, again
the way we once were?
it's alright, it's alright
it's going to tear you apart
