Snowbird
Sally Timms
High up in the frozen hills where the icy waters rush

Lies a swooping snowbird, crying drops of blood

Up above through powdered wings her crystal feathers flow

Weeping, weeping crimson tears that stain the milk white snow

Cry one red drop for blood, one red drop of bone

One less drop for the snow to fall, burying them both

Cry one red drop for blood, one red drop of bone

One less drop for the snow to fall, burying them both

Once a horse was chased by a bull into the blinding snow

He galloped "˜round and "˜round in the biting cold
Snowbird swooped to shelter him in the frozen glow
One touch of her white wings, his heart was turned to stone
Cry one red drop for blood, one red drop of bone

One less drop for the snow to fall, burying them both
