I can't believe how long I slept
Just trying to find a way to be politically adept.
If you could call asleep just trying to stay awake
Well what you gonna do when there's lives at stake?
Do you just step back and say "that's life?"
And do whatever's best for the economy right?
And when my priorities remain the minority,
Say "I guess I'll leave it up to the authorities?"
I guess we all grow out of being juvenile delinquents,
There's something to be said for the ignorance of innocence,
I guess I'll don the white collar and the suit and tie,
Take the bus to work and say "goodbye?"
Cause in this world you close your eyes,
Sing your sweet lullaby.
