Stardust

Robert van Oz
here
our rivers bend
coming forth to an uncharted land
now that we are brand new
I lose you
out of my sight
taking hold of the light
of the light
we
are struggling for words
for our voice in this world
singing songs of life and death
leaving you breathless
songs once so balmy
pierce right through me
right through me
one hot smouldering summer night
we broke away and hitched a ride
insecure where we go
we'll never really know
over hill and over dale
to the end of time, even beyond the pale
we try so hard to swim against
the currents of transience
morn
what have you born
into the light, into the dawn
what children are we?
beauty of speed
we refuse to die, never grow old
our rivers carry gold
they carry gold
just in this second we understand
we hold stardust in our trembling hands
