Starting a New Year Today
This has been a hard year
So much has happened to bring me here
But there's something gained to look back
So I'm reading my journal from front to back
Here's where I tried a lot, page 5 I cried a lot
This part I don't understand
Still I see Your good hand
Jesus, You're the man who has stayed with me
Jesus, You're the hand that has steadied me
Jesus, You've been faithful on every page
So I'm starting a new year today
Staring at the clean page
Putting thoughts down on paper the usual way
I may not know where this might lead
But Your word is the lamp guide in front of me
Here's where I play a lot, thankful for all I got
Doing the best that I can
I reach for Your hand
Jesus, You're the man who has stayed with me
Jesus, You're the hand that has steadied me
Jesus, You've been faithful on every page
So I'm starting a new year
writing a new year

You shall see I'm doing a new thing
Do you not perceive Him
Making a way in the desert
Filling the waste land with streams
In yours is a story of winter
But my child, you have believed
And now I am writing your spring
Welcome spring
This could be a good year
