Strange Birds
Amy Cook
I was terrified
Your lips were on mine you felt alright
There were strange birds singing into the night
I never know just what to do
I always stop to think it through
I get tongue-tied
I want to do it wrong, I want to do it right
I want to break all the rules without even trying
Then you catch my eye
And just as fast we're flying
The sky's a bruise
We watch it on the late night news
There are strange
Strange birds flying up in the sky
Here in the heavy air
They shine bright in your hair
What moonlight!
And if the sun refused to shine
I'll take your hand in mine
And we'll walk it on down the line
And just as fast we'll be flying
