Summer of Love
Piebald
When you look
At yourself
For the thousandth time
In that old mirror,
Familiar eyes
And signs that you might be getting old.
As you step out your house,
You can think
Of one more excuse to get drunk,
To get high,
To get fucked.
The last days of the year, yeah
That you could sleep outside, yeah
What matters most is how you spend your time
And sometimes clock strikes fear (?), yeah
You will have everything you need, ooh
As the sandals drag, yeah
And the lifeguard smiles, yeah
She knows she won't have to save your life
Okay, I'll sit in the sun (?), hey
You have heard
The playboys have escaped
The youthful few
Have not failed to intersect, ooh
I say yes, or no
Just so I don't have to say anything else
But I can think it,
Instead of say it,
And I still get to have the thought
Little things have big ears,
And you're softer than a shopping cart,
And roosters crow, but hens
deliver the goods.
Try to be a filter not a sponge.
One lets things pass by and one gets dirty.
I don't wanna talk about questions and answers.
Try not to go places
But get away from them.
The old vices will come back
To haunt
There's nothing else to say, yeah
I'll do it all at once, yeah
Why do we always try to push on through?
It must get easier than this
And, yeah
