Before I leave I turn on the TV
'cause it's just too god damn lonely
Get home to be the only
Man alive in the whole damn city
I ride to work on the downtown brown line
Train car smells of dollar cheap wine
Feel like a rat in laboratory confines
Jesus on the corner says we've seen the first signs
So tear down the opera house!
There's nothing there for me only beauty,
and I don't think that's very appropriate here
And as I walk I watch the pavement
New cracks since my last tax payment
