The Gun Goes Bang
Ali Whitton
I guess we are the product of everything we need
And me, I need a lover to hold me while I sleep
Last year I thought I'd found her but then she turned her back on me
I was starting to get comfortable, I was starting to believe
Then the gun goes bang
My dreams - they just betray me like the rumour of my youth
I was reaching for the sun but I'm still grounded at the roots
I tolerate frustration whilst I navigate my moods
Life is just a murder for which the are not any clues
And then the gun goes bang
And the sun turns black
I see your guilt in shadows
There's no going back
And I am not scared
I know I'll be fine
Because I see you live
As you watch me die
If I told you that I loved you I bet you'd never be my friend
You like to keep your distance whilst your hunting other men
Ignorance is bliss my love but you cannot hear at all
The words that leave my lips will never reach your soul
And then the gun goes bang
And the sun turns black
I see your guilt in shadows
There's no going back
And I am not scared
I know I'll be fine
Because I see you live
As you watch me die
Yeah I see you live
As you watch me die
To follow my heart is the best that I can do
Throw caution to the wind and let it bluster
To leave my future in the hands of vile thieves
Is like leading a lamb to the slaughter
