The Ones You Keep

The New Frontiers
Circles on the ceiling fall
past the photos hanging on the wall
halls holding history of my father as a boy
Now dishes fill a dirty sink
it's a beautiful but bitter drink
when God in all His wisdom
takes the people that you love the most
When the walls close in
and it's hard to breathe
may the ones you love
be the ones you keep
Fireflies in a jar
cracked and broken old guitar
I was just 11 in the house where my father lived
No one lives here anymore
there's no one left to creak the hallway floor
and even though they're full of light
it's just so hard to let good people go
When the walls close in
and it's hard to breathe
may the ones you love
be the ones you keep
When you're standing tall
when you're cut off at the knees
may the ones you love
be the ones you keep
may the ones you love
be the ones you keep
