There Are Lines In My Face
Daniel Romano
Just because it doesn't seem to hurt me.
Just because I never speak my mind.
When I'm gone you think I'm gone without you
and that I'll leave all my love behind.
Just because I never want to face it.
Just because I never answered why.
When we're close you feel that you're much closer
and that my eyes can no longer cry.
But you'd never know by the sound of my voice.
You couldn't tell by the clothes that I wear.
But if you look a little closer at me.
You'll see there are lines in my face that don't come from smiling.
Just because I can't remember everything.
Just because it seems that I'm coasting by.
When I smile it only makes you sorry
and when I'm here it only means goodbye.
But you'd never know by the sound of my voice.
You couldn't tell by the clothes that I wear.
But if you look a little closer at me.
You'll see there are lines in my face that don't come from smiling.
