These Feelings
Thoughts and emotions can be tricky at the best of
times
They build you up just to bring you down
And create chaos in your mind
Erupting like a mountain
Need some strength that I can count on
They're comin' up to bring me down
But I won't be afraid
Sometimes it's fear or anger or despair
And it's easier to blame someone else or something
out there
But I know that I gotta get real
I'm the only one who can change how I feel

Maybe it's an old trauma
Or an unconscious memory
That keeps me revolving on this roundabout of misery
I can hold on white knuckled as it spins me around
Or jump off this not so merry-go-round
And I've heard that when selfishness comes in the
door
Humility slips out the front
And I've seen those comings and goings in my life
But there's an angel of compassion on my shoulder
and there's wisdom in my bones
and there's help if I'm willing to ask for it
if I can be humble
and here they come again
I'm digging deep for strength
