Warrior

Dan Griffin
She understood I'm never good with words
And I'm still surviving.
Your poison lips could never quench
My thirst
Or keep me alive when
I got a curse. You said I'm free to choose.
My mind is tired.
I got a noise that I can't make
With no sound.
I'm not inspired.
A tragic smile on our four lips now.
You see that no one is crying out
Darkness comes on the brightest day.
Sunshine feels like an old betrayal.
I don't want your interest
'Cause I know it's gonna please you
When it should disappoint;
Time to see me.
Well, now you heard the words I said,
So don't try
To think about it.
Tried to escape,
I jumped against the tide
And it sucked me back in.
'Cause what you know is only poetry and lies,
And the devil's laughing.
He knows there's nothing on the other side.
Can you please stop asking?
We can take the back roads,
Oh, and escape.
If I lost you back there, I'm going along.
Won't you wait for me
On the other side?
