We All Fall Short
John Elefante
Why do we bury treasure?
Why do we stow it away?
Why do we dim the lights down low
instead of letting it glow?
And we say we trust and we say we have faith
We say "We'll never fall away"
And then we find ourselves in a constant rain
No shelter from the fray
But we don't have to sit ashore and watch the ocean
We have the power, we can overcome the waves
We don't have to fear and always run for cover
We have a love like no other
But we all fall short of the glory of the Lord
And if we stand on the fence, it's not a life we can afford
No better place to be than underneath His wings
And the love we crave is the love that He brings
A far greater love than anything we can conceive
And I pray that we will be strong enough
when the walls start caving in all around us
And I pray that when the freeze sets in,
that I won't melt down
Then the current always tries to pull us under
And then our weakness then becomes our strength
We don't have to fear and always run for cover
We have a love like no other
But we all fall short of the glory of the Lord
And if we stand on the fence, it's not a life we can afford
No better place to be than underneath His wings
And the love we crave is the love that He brings
A far greater love than anything we can conceive
Not a cloud up in the sky, I can see so far and wide
It's always spring time
There's lots of pretty sounds coming from the merry-go-round
It's pure elation
People smiling everywhere, they're even flying through the air
It's surely Heaven
But we all fall short of the glory of the Lord
And if we stand on the fence, it's not a life we can afford
No better place to be than underneath His wings
And the love we crave is the love that He brings
A far greater love than anything we can conceive
