When the Autumn Comes
Chris Bathgate
I know when the autumn comes
Where my thoughts will go
A hole in the ground
And an old stone bridge
Where my new eyes were born
How the bee sets the weeds to rustle
And the sun makes the valley glow
With measured breath I watch the shadows bloom
I know when the winter comes
Where my heart will grow
Stirring songs and overtures
Deep within my throat
I warm my unsaid worries
Vibrate on that iron stain
Strange how all the sadness I feel sings
