Angels Laughing

Wendy Woo
I can hear the angels laughing
laugh so hard they almost cry
peeking through the tears of passion
making bets and rolling dice
Can you hear the angels laughing?
Playing cards up late at night
sending signs of hope and direction
and laughing when the signs aren't sighted
Through the tears I see a flicker
a splash of light looks in my eyes
a voice of hope, a road of compassion,
a sign so loud it wakes the night
But as I stop, so I can listen
a voice so faint it almost cries
I stop to hear my words for direction
and all I hear is the laughter in the night
Laughing at the angels
laughing at you
Laughing at the angels
laughing at you, too
If you can never read the signs
what good does it do?
Laughing at the fate of where life might take you
Maybe I don't care to listen
I don't care to count the signs
I can feel my heart beat faster
It feels so good, it must be right
Cause Cupid almost never misses
how could what he does be wrong?
Maybe he just had
a few too many and he's out on the town
just blindly shooting at stars
and missing
and hitting me
Cause I wonder
how I got to be
in love with you
How strange
You came from nowhere
o, I never expected you
What a surprise that you and I
can laugh at the angels, too
