Man Made Lines

Wendy Woo
Man Made Lines
Like an arrow, straight and narrow
Like a sky scraper
From the ground to the sky
God made curves
Like a river running
all around the world like a bird
Feathers running down
And I make words
Man made lines
Like an airplane with cobwebs spinning
from behind
Like a tick tack toe board running through the
rush hour sky
Like a late cocaine cut across the bar
Like a late night lightening storm across the sky
And I know that you know that, anything can change
The sharpest line I've ever seen is the sun before the rain
Man makes curves, on the rare occasion he stops work to
watch the world, as a baby makes his first steps,
steps between the lines
As an old man rocks his chair into the night
Like a late night lightening storm across the sky
I make these words
and they make these sounds
and you can understand the way I am
I may be wrong
my lines to long
but you'll always know my reason to live
God makes lines
as the sun splits clouds across the open evening sky
Like a slide down from the heavens or a ladder to the sky
Like a late night lightening thunderstorm across the sky
