Courtesy Call No#1
James C. Westley
i look up at the sun.
but i can barely see the horizon.
the smoke that fills the sky
stings as i put my eyes on.
after a night of hard drinking,
i can barely see it.
if that makes me a failure.
then so fucking be it.
i am so damn glad
to be a part of a lustful dream
had so many of my own
absurd and obscene
but if it all breaks apart
and there's a broken heart
i guarantee it won't be mine
i got outta the way. just in the nick of time
pardon me sir.
can i get my courtesy call.
now that i'm dried out.
staring at the wall...
all the lovely ladies
they make me look insane
i might as well just try
and see if i can guess their game.
but there is no unwrapping a gift
with someone else's name
looks like i'm shit outta luck
with no one left to blame.
but myself
love upon the shelf.
a shirt that tells the public.
it won't suck itself
