Hybrid Of Our Heart
Andrew Preston
Our souls were tightly woven by strings we sewed ourselves
Our hearts were hovering far apart, but entwined in amorous yarn
Then her loving grasp pulled a knife and sliced our souls away
And roped our hearts together and consumed them without harm
An inner demon of a hidden, vanished bond
Revealing it's intention, slowly gnawing it's fangs
A deadly, viral love that cannot be cured
A two-faced murderer making friendship into shame
But maybe for the best have we strung ourselves together
Maybe for the best have we cut her bond apart
Preserved our cordial love
Saved the hybrid of our heart
An adhesive handed beauty, absorbing our hearts into her
Tainting our lost minds that once were pure
So cynical she's made us with her complex spell
Broken up our hybrid, sent us to our own Hell
