Melancholia
Chester Travis
Welcome to this melancholic town,
she said with a spaced out stare that said everything.
Without anything at all,
But the expression on her face told a tale about the place.
I couldn't run,
And all of the etchings on the walls,
Suggested there'd been no apparent leisure here at all.
You've got a problem,
When you've got nowhere to hide,
And the walls that surround you,
Are the ones you've been assigned.
Furthermore I'd been talked of here inside,
Before I'd even known I was going to arrive,
I smelt sabotage and treason in the air,
Men in uniform told me what to think and what to wear.
I was trapped inside the body of a beast,
I screamed and gnawed the inside with the edges of my teeth.
You've got a problem,
When you've got nowhere to hide,
And the walls that surround you,
Are the ones you've been assigned.
