Tainted
Chester Travis
Colors all tainted and bright,
In this room on the edge of the night.
Goodbye words, burning her lips,
And sticks to the air like dust.
She said I'm going outside for a while,
The gate was open all year.
Hinges all rusted, and buckled the weight,
Of the gate on the post by the door.
But she never came home, never came back,
Silence in the act, you'll never take back,
What you had said.
Summers spent locked up in bed,
Feeling her absense fills up your head,
Like a cloud over your bones,
Echoing softly the whispers and moans.
Your body's this temple, trembles and aches,
Can't get to sleep but you're never awake.
Agressively tumbling, can't find the brakes,
To just stop.
But she never came home, never came back,
Silence in the act, you'll never take back,
What you had said.
But something was wrong,
Admittedly, nothing was right.
It wasn't like her to run away,
Into the night.
