Nightingale
Dana Falconberry
Nobody loves me
I started digging a hole in the ground
soon as the sun goes down,
soon as the stars come out
Nobody cares
Filled a wooden box with a red nail
Soon as the moon does rise,
soon as the nightingale cries
If anybody wants to starve me,
then keep the moon out of the sky
and if anybody cares,
then tell the nightingale not to cry
Nobody wants me
I'll put on my fanciest dress
Soon enough all that will be left,
will be a song from a nightingale's nest
