Paper Sailboat
Dana Falconberry
i wrote a letter, i'll send it downstream
i hope the ink doesn't bleed too much
i hope that you get to read it, love
someday
i'll fold it up into a paper sailboat
and send it off with a wave and a kiss
and i will sit on the bank like this
waiting
if i could i would make time go backwards
the river would run upstream
and everything i've lost would come back
floating
i go for walks sunday afternoons
there's a path in the woods i take
there's a sweet sound the trees make
when the wind blows
i pick up sticks, i take them home
and when you answer my note sweetheart
i'll build a real boat and depart
where the water flows
if i could i would make time go backwards
the river would run upstream
and everything i've lost would come back
floating
i wrote a letter, i'll send it downstream
i hope the ink doesn't bleed too much
i hope that you get to read it, love
someday
