People Do
Luke Temple
While I drink this morning blood,
It's got a sour grip on me
I can hear that train approaching
To take me, silently
But I won't, go where I should,
For I'm scared, of what I'll find
And I'll lie, and say I love you
And let my train, go rolling by
Cause people do, what they don't mean to do
And I will speak, in diagrams
Of a dream and of a poem
A building block to stand on,
Of a true love, rarely known
But it's thin, and made of wind
It's a leveling typhoon
And I'll lie, and say I love you
For it's the only thing to do
And people live,
How they don't mean to live
Giving up,
Is all you've got to give
::instrumentation::
Now I'm gray, and you are mean
And we're stuck in what we've learned
In my mind, I'm still a bandit
With an empire to overturn
But I'll sit, this table set,
Past the milk I'd rather throw
And just lie and say I love you
For it's the only thing I know.
And people do, what they don't mean to do
And people live, how they don't mean to live
