it is the fact that you are here

sun should just be done
no talk, just use our lungs
brains that your dad said you had
you lost 'em
terrified of our potential
and all the ways we might fail to meet it
but (..?) we are all the same
we want to sleep with no bad dreams
in our own bed with heat
from somebody who won't keep me awake

when everything else starts to slip
is sleeping over your parents' bedroom
we turned eighteen not long ago.
the open window, it made it so cold,
but you shut it and then came back to bed.
