The Apple Fell Up

Vito Genovese
What went on that day
On the second day
Of the first month of the year
I saw the saucers fly
And the eagle cry
And the bold cower in fear
There was a plague
All around
There was a vague
Humming sound
I looked out the window
Did you see what I saw?
Not for many days
'Til the month of May
Did we hear that sound once more
Coming closer now
Coming from the ground
We heard it knockin' at our door
There was a light
In the air
There was a sight
Of despair
I looked out the window
Did you see what I saw?
When the sun went down
On our white-trash town
When the moonlight never shone
People left their lights
On all through the nights
'Til the TV circuit's blown
There was a dark
Falling hard
There was a rainstorm
In the yard
I looked out the window
Did you see what I saw?
Perched up on the fence
Bearing no defense
Sat a bluebird on the crest
Singing melodies
About mankind's freeze
Now the Earth will be his nest
There was a book
Called mankind
The planet shook
It from its mind
