The Misanthrope
Tin Armor
I may sound miserable in these lines
But I will eat from the fruit of life in time.
But I won't look you in the eyes and don't you look in mine.
Because I'm so sick of crying about it.
I don't want to talk and pretend it's all alright.
Where do I reside?
In homes far removed from my heart.
I took one in the back and now I want to start
To move away but still stay close and so
Every chance I get
I go walking in the park, sleeping in the car
Away from this.
I don't want to think about it anymore.
It's a matter of give and take,
And I'll take what I deserve and I'll make it stick.
As far as I'm concerned, in your wake
Well it's hard to stand the waves.
Where do I reside?
In homes far from my own heart.
I'm trying to take them back but every chance I get
I go walking in the park, sleeping in the car
Away from this.
I don't want to think about you anymore.
I think about it too often.
I've got to get away.
