1800s Sea Monster
we got all dressed up and prepared
you wore your white face so sublime
slept for a million days and nights
in ditches and blankets of lunar lights
until our skin wrapped around our bones
and we couldn't fit in our own clothes
ghosts! ghosts! they held us close
as under the midnight sky we froze solid
we tucked our bodies into the ground
let the moon sing 'till we were found
and our
bleached bones made our crowns
and our
bleached bones made our crowns
