Worn String

Justin Roth
Please don't make me love you for I'm afraid time will change
The way my mind allows my hear to feel and then lose its aim
Love you I will deeply and then sadly break your heart
For I know not what I want or what I have until I've broken it apart
When I said "I love you," I was not being insincere
But the moment changed and so did I and I was overcome by fear
Blame it on my youth and my inexperience with love
But I can't excuse the leading on and the dragging through the dirt
Here I am again flying in fair weather with a worn string
The wind blows hard and then it dies, I think it's trying to tell me something
It's like a kite that flies too high and then loses all its air
so fast it falls to the ground when no support is there
I was the one at string's end while my heart was in the sky
and you were the wind that carried me so high
When all I could do was coast not soar
The wind slowed and could carry me no more
I should've pulled tighter on that extra string
To use your wind to fly me high again
Here I am again flying in fair weather with a worn string
The wind blows hard and then it dies, I think it's trying to tell me something
I guess the wind doesn't blow strong forever without times of only a breeze
it's up to us to fly our kite with care rather than in the way of most ease
Support and strength of wind and string can make or break the flight
I just hope that next time I can fly it right
Here I am again flying in fair weather with a worn string
The wind blows hard and then it dies, I think it's trying to tell me something
Here I am again flying in fair weather with a worn string
The wind blows hard and then it dies, I think I'm learning something
