Bartleby Waxes Pessimistic
There are many things I don't prefer
But I am not particular
There are many things I haven't seen
But none of those things bother me
I'd rather be a sleeper than a martyr
I'd rather be a child than a father
I'd rather be a beggar than a choser
I'd rather never make a choice again
I could tell you what I'd rather be
If everything were up to me
But none of it would ever make me happy
When I start to use the future tense
My mouth dries up, my eyes expand
To empty globes impermanent like people
There are many things that I have not done
I am full of spite towards each and every one
There are many things that I have never tried
They will remain that way until the day I die
I'd rather be a failure than a dreamer
I'd rather never know than know at all
I'd rather die today than live forever
I'd rather that I'd never lived at all

I've been scared to think

I don't believe in god, but what's belief?
Of course I wouldn't want an afterlife in heaven
Hell's the only place I'd rather be
